IoT-enabled charging station startup, Kazam has announced that it has partnered with BSES in a tender for an EV charging station network. This announcement is in line with Kazam's pledge to provide smart and affordable charging solutions to help India overcome its charging infrastructure challenges.
The startup plans to set up 1 lakh charging stations by 2023. In the past few months, the platform has installed 600+ charging stations in 11+ states and is working with over 100 businesses.
Akshay Shekhar, co-founder, Kazam stated, "Kazam is on a quest to develop an ecosystem for electric vehicle charging networks using cutting-edge hardware and software solutions such as its Charging management software, the Kazam Load Management System, the Kazam Charging App, etc. Through this, we are striving to democratize the infrastructure so that anyone, including the hosts' apartments, offices, commercial spaces, Kirana stores & individual houses could become the fuel pumps of the future. We are elated to have been chosen by the BSES, and this association will allow us to realize our goal of making electric mobility accessible to all."
For the first 30,000 charging stations, GNCTD (Government of NCTD) would deliver a subsidy of up to 100 percent of the cost of the slow chargers and up to Rs 6,000 per charging point. The subsidy will be given to the first 30,000 charging stations sold under this scheme.
It will apply to semi-public locations such as malls, workplaces, hospitals, and shops, as well as private property owners such as bungalows and apartments.
