Atlas Copco extends energy storage solutions with 150 KWh models

Power engineering company Atlas Copco is expanding its range of energy storage systems (ESS) products, having launched new two models: the ZBP 120-120 and ZBP 150-150.

The systems, which deliver capacity of up to 150 KWh in a portable format, are built on Atlas Copco's proven lithium-ion battery technology that offers clean and quiet energy.

Tobias Schuster, Divisional Product Marketing Manager at Atlas Copco Power and Flow, said in a statement: "The ZBP 120-120 and ZBP 150-150 fit the gap between our canopy range of ZBP and the larger container-based ZBC models and we now have a very comprehensive portfolio of energy storage solutions on the market. With seven models in the range, covering power capacities from 2 KWh to 575 KWh, there really is an option for all operators to realize the advantages of quiet and low emissions power."

Atlas Copco said the new ESS models are "built to the same high standards as the existing ZBP range".

"Energy storage systems are designed to provide reliable, and quiet energy for applications on construction sites, events, telecom, and especially metropolitan sites," the company's release said, going on to add: "The ZBP 120-120 and the ZBP 150-150 models are ideal for use where demanding flow of electrical power energy is required, as the systems efficiently cover low loads. For example, the systems can appropriately size cranes and other electric motors, and successfully manage peaks in energy demand for events and for electric vehicle (EV) recharging stations."

ZBP 120-120 has 400A of passthrough capability -- the highest available on the market now -- and can deliver 436 KVA output.

Atlas Copco noted that the systems integrate "reliable lithium-ion batteries with advanced thermal management technology to operate reliably in temperatures from -20°C to +50°C and they are especially designed to be used outside and moved around site".

All Atlas Copco's ESS solutions come with ECO Controller, the company's proprietary energy management system, which monitors and controls the ESS to ensure optimal performance from the unit. The ECO also integrates performance data to optimize energy generation, distribution and consumption, seamlessly communicating with all components in the installation including inverters, batteries, solar charge controllers, energy meters as well as third party equipment such as generators or loads.
