Tesla has bagged a $100 million order for ultra-fast chargers from Pulse, marking the first time the Elon Musk-led company's chargers will be deployed on an independent EV charging network. Pulse, a part of BP's energy transition plans, is investing up to $1 billion in the US to set up charging stations by 2030. General Motors has suspended operations at Cruise, the company's driverless car unit, after California regulators banned its vehicles from state roads. The Golden State's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) on Tuesday said Cruise had "misrepresented" the technology's safety and called its driverless vehicles a risk to the public. Cruise has operations in Phoenix, Houston, Austin, Dallas and Miami. Driverless vehicles are different from autopilot technology in EVs such as Teslas, but both are under the scanner for causing accidents.
Countries are considering signing a global pledge at COP28 to reduce CO2 emissions from air conditioners and other cooling-related machines, but India is unlikely to join the group because the country requires affordable cooling, Reuters reports, quoting unidentified government officials. The UAE, which will host COP28, has developed a proposal along with the UN Environment Programme's Cool Coalition for countries to cut cooling-related emissions by at least 68 percent by 2050 compared with 2022 levels.
IndiGrid has bagged a contract for a 20 MW/40 MWh battery energy storage project in Delhi from BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. The contract, from design and supply to testing, installation and commissioning, spans a 12-year period on build-own-operate-transfer basis. The project is 70 percent debt-financed by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), a non-profit that aims to reduce 4 gigatons of future carbon emissions and expand clean energy access to 1 billion people.
