Canadian Solar Inc announced that its subsidiary e-STORAGE had secured a contract to develop the first – and flagship – energy storage project in Nova Scotia province of Canada.
The projects, totaling 150 MW / 705 MWh DC, will come up across three locations: Bridgewater, Waverley, and White Rock, all within the province. e-STORAGE will provide comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services to the three projects, ordered by regional utility Nova Scotia Power.
The first site is expected to turn operational next year, with construction slated to close by end of 2026, the company said in a press release.
e-STORAGE, part Canadian Solar's majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar Co, has shipped more than 5 GWh of battery energy storage solutions across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. At present, the company operates two fully automated manufacturing facilities having an annual production capacity of 20 GWh.
Peter Gregg, President of Nova Scotia Power, commented on the agreement: "These grid-scale battery energy storage projects will help maintain system reliability during Nova Scotia's clean energy transition, delivering safe and clean energy when needed."
