Energy Efficiency Services (EESL) has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), to demonstrate Energy Efficiency Projects (DEEP) in different industrial units of various sectors, notified under the PAT scheme of BEE.
The agreement is signed under the PAT scheme to improve the energy efficiency in the industry sector through the demonstration of energy-efficient technologies. To execute the project, BEE has provided a grant of Rs 64 crore to EESL for the deployment and large-scale implementation of energy efficiency measures in the industry sector. Phase I of the project is expected to complete by January 2023.
Under this association, EESL, and BEE, under the guidance of Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Additional Secretary and Director General, BEE will collaboratively work towards the demonstration of innovative energy efficiency projects and their upscaling. The project will be implemented in two phases, the phase-I will demonstrate about eight innovative energy-efficient technologies in 27 designated consumers, while phase-II will aggregate the demand for the successfully demonstrated technologies across the sectors.
Venkatesh Dwivedi, group executive director, EESL, said, "This partnership will tap into the immense potential for energy efficiency in the industrial sector. Our expertise in the market transformation of energy-efficient technologies and managing the largest energy efficiency programmes, in tandem with policy support from BEE will enable considerable energy savings and environmental benefits."
Dr. Ashok Kumar, deputy director-general, BEE, said, "This MoU will go a long way in implementing various energy efficiency measures in the PAT sector while synergizing the strength and expertise of both the organizations. We are happy to be part of this energy efficiency endeavor and in contributing to national emission reduction goals under NDCs".
Animesh Mishra, head PR, and sales, EESL, said, "This agreement is a positive step ahead towards empowering MSMEs & integrating energy-efficient practices in capital-intensive industries. EESL and BEE share a longstanding relationship and strong foundation. Through this partnership, we are hopeful towards exhibiting significant results in terms of improving energy productivity and reducing India's carbon footprint."
