Fluence Energy announced an agreement with renewable energy infrastructure investor Excelsior Energy Capital to install 2.2 GWh of battery storage projects in the US starting 2025.
These projects will utilize Made-in-USA batteries, modules, and supporting systems to deliver firm capacity and flexible power to the US electricity grid while building its resilience in the face of blackouts of infrastructure failures.
Excelsior, which makes middle-market investments in wind, solar and battery storage plants across North America, will deploy products from Fluence's Gridstack Pro line, the companies said in a release. "These projects are anticipated to help foster a domestic supply chain for critical clean tech manufacturing in the US and directly support American jobs and battery storage production capacity," the release further stated.
Battery cells used in the projects will primarily be manufactured in Tennessee while the battery modules will be manufactured by Fluence in Utah.
John Zahurancik, Fluence President, Americas, said in a release: "We are excited to support Excelsior on the deployment of 2.2 GWh of Gridstack Pro. This deal is a testament to the competitiveness of US-manufactured battery storage systems."
Chris Frantz, Partner of Excelsior Energy Capital, commented: "The Excelsior team is excited about this new agreement with Fluence. It reduces battery supply risks for our projects and fosters a strong partnership with an industry leader. Together, we will leverage our strengths to drive sustainable growth and innovation in the industry."
