Cologne-based INFICON is one of the world's leading developers of instruments and devices for leak testing. As part of Hannover Messe 2022, the company is showcasing the ELT3000 - the world's first and only testing system of its kind – meant for the manufacturers and testing partners of lithium-ion battery cells.
According to the company, the ELT3000 is the only test system to date that can directly detect leaking electrolyte from battery cells without first having to infer leakage from other test parameters.
Based on mass spectrometer technology, the ELT3000 is actually capable of detecting leaks thousands of times smaller than conventional pressure testing methods. INFICON claims that the system's modular design enables its easy integration into automated processes.
For battery manufacturers, this opens up the possibility of making serious forecasts about battery lifetimes of up to ten years. With the ELT3000, INFICON offers manufacturers of lithium-ion battery cells in particular a unique solution for identifying leaks.
INFICON's products are largely used by the manufacturers of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, the automotive and automotive supply industries, the semiconductor industry, and manufacturers of leak testing equipment.
