NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a fully-owned subsidiary of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), has invited eligible bidders to participate in a tender to supply Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for solar PV-based 1,200MWh large-scale renewable energy park at Khavda in Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.
The call is for BESS projects with minimum 250kW output and 1,200kWh capacity till the end of third year to aid solar power generation and integration at the site. The tender includes designing, engineering, testing, and commissioning of the battery-based energy storage systems as a standalone application from companies with proven track-record including financial abilities to sustain the project.
The solution providers will also be responsible for operations and maintenance of the BESS for three years from the date of commissioning.
As far as the specific requirements laid down by NTPC REL for the BESS, the Power conversion systems (PCS) must have 250kW capacity and be able to perform black start functions for bidirectional inversion and charging, while also providing voltage reference for solar inverters.
Further, the battery systems will be coupled with solar PV at the AC output bus. It should be capable of performing standalone operations off-grid in island mode, and continue to deliver load to motors and other heavy equipment.
