The Volkswagen Group has revealed that it has increased its deliveries of all-electric vehicles (BEVs) by 48 percent year-on-year to 321,600 vehicles in the first half of 2023. Of the automaker's entire vehicle deliveries, BEVs accounted for 7.4 percent this year, up from 5.6 percent in the first six months of last year.
Region wise, the company has achieved the highest growth of electric vehicle sales in Europe, where deliveries rose by 68 percent to 217,100 units. The Volkswagen Group claims to be the market leader in the European electric vehicle market, accounting for about 68 percent of the group's total BEV sales.

In China, despite a two percent de-growth as against the previous year's level at 62,400 BEVs, thanks to the market's competitive electric vehicle environment, the company claims that the second quarter of 2023 is more positive with 18 percent growth than the previous quarter. China accounts for 19 percent of the group's BEV sales worldwide.
The third biggest market for the VW group is the United States with 9 percent share, where the BEV sales growth stands at 76 percent to 29,800 vehicles in the same period.
In terms of vehicle brands, Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has delivered 164,800 vehicles by the end of June, slightly more than half of all BEVs sales in the first half of 2023. It was followed by Audi with 75,600 vehicles (24 percent), Škoda with 31,300 vehicles (10 percent), SEAT/ CUPRA with 18,900 vehicles (6 percent), Porsche with 18,000 vehicles (6 percent) and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with 12,300 vehicles (4 percent).

The most successful BEV models from the Volkswagen Group brand were Volkswagen ID.4/ ID.5 (101,200 units), Volkswagen ID.3 (49,800 units), Audi Q4 e-tron (48,000 units), Škoda Enyaq iV (31,300 units), and Audi Q8 e-tron (19,500 units).
It is to be noted that the Volkswagen Group sold 572,100 all-electric vehicles in 2022, with BEV share of total deliveries registering 6.9 percent, up from 5.1 percent from 2021.
