Daimler Truck's RIZON brand launches Class 4-5 electric trucks in Canada

Daimler Truck's newest brand of electric vehicles 'RIZON' has made its Canadian debut of its battery-electric Class 4-5 trucks at the recently held Truck World in Toronto. The company has said that the e-trucks will be available to Canadian customers starting from June 2024.

RIZON trucks will qualify for the Canadian government's 'Incentives for Medium- and Heavy-duty-Zero-Emission Vehicles' (iMHZEV) program, which has been in effect since 2022, according to the manufacturer. The country is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and has established an incentive program to encourage commercial fleets to electrify.

"Canada is very advanced regarding green energy and infrastructure and is a natural next step for RIZON's second market," said Andreas Deuschle, the Global Head of RIZON Truck.

"So, we are very happy to bring our zero-emission solution to Canadian customers. They are proven OEM trucks with the latest technology from Daimler Truck. RIZON is the best Class 4-5 fully electric truck money can buy", he added.

The EV maker will offer four variants of its battery-electric trucks for the Canadian customers, namely e16L, e16M, e18L, and the e18M, ranging from 7.25-8.55 tons in GVW ratings. RIZON's e-trucks first debuted in the U.S. last year, and are already operating on American roads for a diverse range of customers.

It is to be noted that these RIZON electric trucks are based on Fuso e-Canter electric trucks, Daimler's first dedicated e-truck platform that is already on sale in select international markets, spanning over 8 million kilometers of electric driving, according to the group. RIZON brand is specifically established for the North American markets.
