Advanced battery technology start-up, Log9 Materials (Log9) inaugurated India's first commercial li-ion cell manufacturing facility in its Jakkur campus in Bengaluru on Friday.
Marking the 7th year anniversary of the start-up, the company inaugurated the indigenously-developed cell manufacturing facility at "Day Zero" -- Log9's second edition of technology showcase day. The plant has an initial capacity of 50 MWh.
"...We are all set to inaugurate India's first commercial li-ion cell manufacturing line and push the boundaries of innovation by delivering the commitments made and pushing India towards its net-zero goals of 2070," Log9 stated on its social media account on LinkedIn.
At the first edition of "Day Zero" which was launched on April 21, 2022, the start-up announced its commitment to commissioning India's first commercial lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility with the launch of our in-house developed TiB cells.
"Our cells are designed from the ground-up in India, for India; to suit Indian operating conditions, climate, and customers, and are hence going to play a crucial role in making India self-reliant while helping the nation realize its ambitious electric mobility vision," said Akshay Singhal, Cofounder & CEO of Log9 Materials.
So far, the company has deployed almost 3,000 batteries in EVs which have covered around 5.5 million kilometers, he added.
The start-up currently has a presence in more than 20 cities across the country, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and others.
Further, the firm also launched its academic engagement program named "Log9 Rise" focused on supporting talent pool creation in battery technologies in the country.
