RE firm Greenstat has begun the construction of its 20 MW green hydrogen production facility at Fiskå in Rogaland county, Norway. The upcoming plant is part of the Agder Hydrogen Hub in Kristiansand that the company is bullish about. The construction is expected to take two years to complete.
The Norwegian company is aiming to supply green hydrogen to the demand coming from the maritime, heavy transport, and construction machinery industries in the region by 2026.
The project marks the the first phase of the company's plans for hydrogen hub in Kristiansand. The construction work for the phase two of the project has also begun already, with a possible capacity expansion with an additional 40 MW, according to media reports.
It is to be noted that the Greenstat acquired the ownership of the project from Danish firm Everfuel this February, followed by a lease agreement with Elkem signed for the use of land.
Greenstat and Everfuel also claimed earlier that Letters of Intent (LoI) for hydrogen offtake for about 8,000 tonnes of compressed hydrogen per year had been signed with companies including Holland-Norway Lines, FFS Marine and Arrive Shipping.
Maritime traffic along the Norwegian coast is one of the important target industry for Greenstat's Norwegian hydrogen hub project. The company has selected Aragon as the engineering partner for the project, for assistance in devising the plant's final design and selection of equipment and service suppliers.
