SWPL, a Shapoorji Pallonji Group company signed a 50-50 joint venture (JV) with Enel X, a subsidiary of Enel Group. The JV intends to contribute to the fast-evolving private e-mobility ecosystem in India by providing products and software platforms that support EV charging infrastructure build-up across the country.
"The quick electric charger will be a game-changer for the EV sector in the country and is in line with the national vision to combat fossil fuel pollution and associated climate change through accelerated electrification of private and public transportation as a prime lever," said Sanjay Jadhav, CEO, Sterling Generators Pvt Ltd.
Looking to provide end-to-end services for EV charging stations across India, with the latest partnership, SWPL will be introducing Enel X’s Juice family of high-tech, digital, and smart DC as well as fast AC electrical chargers that are already recognized worldwide, adjusted to the needs of the Indian consumer. The company aims to offer Indian users an easy, convenient, and controllable EV charging experience for their electric vehicles.
As per the company, users will also have the opportunity to choose how, when, and where to charge their vehicle, potentially selecting the most efficient time for charging. This platform will also facilitate asset operators and owners to track the performance of charging stations and networks, as well as troubleshoot systems in real-time.

The joint venture will be incorporated on April 1, 2021, and the operations are expected to commence in the second quarter of 2021.
