EV charging equipment supplier Wallbox has recently revealed that the first phase of construction of its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Arlington, Texas is currently underway.
The Barcelona-based firm is investing around $11 million on the first-ever plant in US, with a production capacity of over 500,000 charging stations annually by 2025. It is expected to become operational by early October this year, with an initial capacity to make 250,000 units.
"With the U.S. undergoing a steady increase in demand toward energy-friendly solutions due to the government's aggressive EV infrastructure targets, we are pleased to begin construction on our factory that will be at the forefront of serving this rapidly growing market," said Douglas Alfaro, General Manager of North America at Wallbox.
"The U.S. factory is an exciting milestone that allows us to expand our local footprint stateside, and we are thrilled to begin construction in Arlington. The manufacturing facility is expected to allow us to better meet the needs of our American customers and support the nation's transition toward electric mobility", he added.
Wallbox is expected to manufacture its most-popular charging equipment model 'Pulsar Plus' at the Texas facility, including its 40-amp and 48-amp versions.
Next year, the company may expand its production lines for three other models as well, namely 'Quasar 2' (a bi-directional DC charger), 'Supernova' (DC fast charger, and 'Hypernova' (ultrafast DC charger).
Notably, at CES 2022 event early this year, the company unveiled the CCS version of the 'Quasar' model aimed at the North American market.
