Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors, has won the order to supply, operate, and maintain 921 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).
The order is a part of the larger tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), and Tata Motors will will supply 921 low-floor, 12-meter starbus e-buses for a period 12 years, as part of the contract. The company has already won orders for over 3,600 e-buses in the last 30 days -- which includes orders for 1,500 e-buses from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and 1,180 e-buses orders from West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC).
"We are delighted to confirm the order of 921 electric buses to Tata Motors. This order is paramount for Bengaluru's growing need for clean, sustainable urban mass mobility," said G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
"BMTC is happy to induct modern electric buses that will attract maximum ridership for eco-friendly public transport."
To date, the company has supplied more than 715 electric buses across multiple cities in India, which have cumulatively clocked more than 40 million kms.

BMTC had placed its orders for e-buses under the CESL Grand Challenge.
