Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day trip to Australia on Wednesday finalizing new agreements focused on expanding bilateral trade and cooperation across various sectors including green hydrogen.

PM Modi along with the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, reaffirmed their commitment to further broadening and deepening of the multifaceted India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The discussions between the two leaders called for cooperation in defense and security, trade and investment, new and renewable energy, green hydrogen, critical minerals, education, migration and mobility and people-to-people ties.

Further, they also signed the Terms of Reference of the India-Australia Hydrogen Task Force, which will advise on opportunities to accelerate manufacture and deployment of clean hydrogen, focusing on hydrogen electrolysers, fuel cells as well as supporting infrastructure and standards and regulations.

"The Taskforce will comprise Australian and Indian experts in renewable hydrogen and report to the Australian-Indian Ministerial Energy Dialogue on the opportunities which are there for Australia and India to cooperate in this important area of renewable hydrogen," PM Albanese stated.

"Investments like the taskforce will help power our industries in the future and ensure that Australia and India meet our energy targets in the interests of both our respective countries, but also in support of reduction of global emissions," he added.
