At the recently held 13th technology conference in Hefei, Chinese battery maker Gotion High-tech introduced three new battery products, including its first all-solid-state battery product, as the company is stepping up its efforts to reach out to the mid- and high-end electric vehicle space in the local market.
The new battery products include ultra-fast charge support 'G-Curent', 'Stellary Battery' with large cylindrical cells, and 'Gemstone', the company's first-generation all-solid-state battery pack, according to CnEVPost's latest news report.
G-Current
Gotion claims that the 'G-Current' battery range supports 5C ultra-fast charging, which means the battery pack can theoretically charged to 100 percent SoC in one-fifth of an hour. It can recharge from 0-80 percent SoC in 9.8 minutes, up to 90 percent in about 15 minutes, and zero-full charge in about 25 minutes in real world terms.
The G-Current is said to feature a module-less design that enables 30 percent reduction child parts for the pack, while supporting both LFP and NMC battery chemistries. The battery is designed for EVs including pure-electrics, hybrids, and extended range EVs.
Capacity wise, the battery pack with LFP cells is rated at 75 kWh to support a driving range of more than 600 kms, while the NMC variants boasts a higher capacity of over 100 kWh, promising a range of 800 kilometers on single charge in EVs.
This battery range promises ultra-fast charging capabilities to plug-in hybrids as well, enabling 4C c4C fast charging that can charge up to 80 percent SoC in just 10-minutes.
Claimed as one of the best battery range in terms of charging performance in China, the Gotion G-Current is already in production and is expected to be adopted in many EVs in the coming months.

'Stellary' Battery
This high-nickel NMC battery is targeting the large cylindrical cells market, with a diameter of 46 mm and supports enables 4C fast charging, with 10-70 percent charging in about nine minutes.
With an energy density of 285 Wh/kg and 775 Wh/L depending on the variant, these cells can remain 70 percent healthy for about 2,500 charging cycles at room temperature, according to Gotion.
The company claims to have reduced the per kWh labour and manufacturing costs of batteries by 37.5 percent and 50 percent respectively through automation in its 7th generation facility, where the Stellary battery is made.

'Gemstone' all-solid-state battery
Foraying into the solid-state battery market for the first time, these advanced cells boasts an energy density of 350 Wh/kg or 800 Wh/L depending on the variants, which is 40 percent higher than lithium NMC batteries of its size.
As a battery pack, the Gemstone claims a system energy density of 280 Wh/kg to support over 1,000 kms of driving range in electric vehicles per charge.
The manufacturer affirms that the pack can easily support 1 million kilometres of driving mileage in EVs, supporting over 3,000 cycles of charging and discharging without much degradation in its life span.
