Energy Vault's B-Vault battery powers Jupiter's 100 MW / 200 MWh St. Gall BESS in Texas
Battery company Energy Vault announced it had deployed its proprietary B-Vault AC block batteries to support the St. Gall Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Texas, USA.
Located near Fort Stockton in the Lone Star State, the 100 MW / 200 MWh St. Gall BESS is owned by Jupiter Power. The project, which provides energy and ancillary services to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has commenced full-scale commercial operations, Energy Vault said in a release.
Energy Vault served as the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPC) contractor as well as systems integrator for the project, and will also deliver a second BESS deployment at the site.
Both BESS systems use the company's proprietary B-VAULT batteries, X-Vault integration platform and Vault-OS Energy Management System to control, manage and optimize operations.
The announcement marks a milestone in the collaboration between Energy Vault and Jupiter Power. In 2022, the companies announced an agreement whereby Energy Vault would supply supply chain equipment and services for 2.4 GWh of capacity to BESS projects owned by Jupiter Power.
Akshay Ladwa, Chief Engineering Officer, Energy Vault, said in a statement: "The streamlined commissioning process and delivery of the St. Gall BESS, as well as Jupiter Power's decision to expand this partnership, are direct results of not only Energy Vault's commitment to a customer-centric approach, but of Jupiter Power's strong understanding of market dynamics and our AC block solution specifically."
