IESW 2023: Today’s Groundwork for Tomorrow’s Clean Energy India

The 9th edition of India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2023 is off to a great start! As India's premier and most influential conference-cum-exhibition on clean energy technologies, the week-long event discourses on the challenges and opportunities in energy storage, e-mobility, and green hydrogen sectors by bringing together global leaders and stakeholders on a common platform, and chalk out pathways and means to make India a leader in energy transition by becoming a global manufacturing hub and demand center for clean energy technologies in the time to come.

India is at the start of the clean energy revolution. What seems merely as an intellectual imagination so far is now starting to become a reality that we can endure into the future. All we require is a strong foundation that need to worked out today to establish a vibrant policy and market supply-demand ecosystem for clean energy sources and technologies across all sectors of end-use applications. Our country's future growth and leadership is dependent on its green and sustainable energy transition.

The India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2023 is a force to reckon with, where intellectual imaginations and ideas on clean energy transition are transformed into emerging, pragmatic, and tangible realities. Organized by India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), India's leading industry alliance on clean energy and technology that has always been an integral part of the country's energy transition for more than a decade, the annual, week-long event is focused on the current and emerging affairs of renewable energy, advanced batteries, alternate energy storage solutions, electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, green hydrogen, and micro grids ecosystem.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President – IESA, commented that the primary focus of IESW this year is on technology. "There are multiple technologies for multiple applications and use-case scenarios, from cell chemistry, design, and packaging to alternative battery technologies for energy storage, for instance. At the global level, big opportunities and markets for all these variety of technologies are emerging. At the local level, gone are the days when India was left with adoption of dated and obsolete technologies. It has now become a place for adapting and extending next-generation technologies in clean energy space", he said.

He further added that it's high time for Indian players to collaborate with international partners and vice-versa. "Adopting learning pointers from the each others experiences on new technologies, R&D and manufacturing processes is essential for India. Europe and US are largely encouraging and benefiting from such international partnerships. Creating awareness is critical to make India a global hub for manufacturing and R&D", he noted.

Sharing a similar perspective on the country's potential for clean energy innovations, Stephen Fernands, President - Customized Energy Solutions (CES), claimed India as a natural incubator for scalable and affordable clean energy and related technology solution for bottom of pyramid, in his maiden speech at the IESW 2023.

In the last eight years, IESW has evolved as a dynamic platform for industry stakeholders and policy makers to deliberate on ways and means to foster an enabling ecosystem for R&D, manufacturing, and adoption of future technologies, while also providing excellent opportunity for companies to showcase their products and services, meet potential business partners, and exchange fresh perspectives on new developments.

In its 9th edition, the IESW is even more determined and equipped. Compared to last year, the show is to double in size and vigor, with and expected footfall of more than 1,000 visitors, 150+ delegates and exhibitors from over 12 countries (USA, Norway, UK, Germany, Finland, Nepal, Taiwan, Australia, Netherlands, Singapore, Scotland, Denmark & others). An extensive program list for all five days of the event is tight packed with 30 thematic conference sessions, 6 technical forums and workshops, 5 roundtables, 3 technical and cultural tours, and a reverse buyer-sellers forum.

In addition, global market sessions, new product launches, knowledge seminars and exclusive Germany, France and China pavilions and Start-Up pavilion at the expo are also sprucing-up the IESW this time. Not to mention the converted IESA Industry Excellence Awards to acknowledge and applaud the innovativeness and achievements of organizations and leaders in the field, and the high-flying CXO and Founders roundtables, bringing together thought leaders and entrepreneurs to share their insights on business development, policies, and standards.
