Mahindra appoints Dr. Uli Stuhec to drive its ‘born-EV platform’ in Detroit

As part of its endeavor to progress on the electric vehicles, Mahindra & Mahindra has announced the appointment of Uli Stuhec an auto industry veteran - with autonomous and electric vehicle expertise - to drive its ambitious 'born-EV platform'

With a very high focus on creating electric vehicle products and technology. M&M lately created an Electric Vehicle Technology Centre to prepare itself for higher penetration of zero-emission vehicles for the future.

A former Ford and BMW executive, Stuhec, comes with two and half decades of product development experience and of that a large part of the last decade he spent on developing electric and autonomous technology. He was Chief Technology Officer at StreetScooter, the world's largest electric vehicle delivery truck manufacturer before joining Mahindra & Mahindra.

The Born Electric Vehicle (BEV) is an exceptionally important part of our EV strategy to make the company future-ready and create world-class Electric SUVs. Uli is expected to direct a dedicated team of 20 engineers in North America and will plan and implement the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) product development strategy in line with customer requirements.

He will lead the BEV vehicle program – BEV architecture and development of the BEV platform strategy, in collaboration with MRV Chennai, an internal circular state.

This is part of developing a global top-notch team with electric vehicle capability. Just a couple of months back, Jogi Shetti, joined the company as the VP for product planning for the electric vehicles business.

Based out of Detroit, Uli will report to Pankaj Sonalkar, the Chief of Electric Vehicle Technology Centre. Samir Rawte, the current Chief Platform Head of EV in India will have a dual reporting to Dr. Uli and Senthur Pandian, Chief Platform & Delivery Head for all PV Platforms. A comprehensive organization structure will be rolled out over a period of the next four weeks, added to the internal circular.
