CATL, Yutong jointly launch long-life commercial vehicle battery in China
Chinese Battery giant CATL and bus maker Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. have recently launched a 'long-life' EV battery pack meant for new energy commercial vehicles, with lifespan of about 15 years and 1.5 million kilometers.
The companies have also unveiled a power battery guaranteeing a lifespan of up to 10 years and 1 million kilometers at the launch event. According to a news report from CnEVPost, it is reported that these battery packs will be catering to different CV segments including light trucks, buses, and heavy trucks under the Yutong brands.
Yutong has also claimed that these batteries exhibit zero degradation in the first 1,000 cycles of charging and recharging, thus enabling a longer lifespan and reliability in terms of energy density over the usage cycles.

One of the top manufacturers of buses across the globe, Yutong continues to maintains a decade long strategic partnership with CATL since 2012, renewed in 2022. The brand's electric buses sold in China and over 40 overseas markets, more so in the European region, are all equipped with batteries sourced from CATL.
Yutong is one of the leading brands of electric buses from China in European markets, holding a significant market share in the region. With the development of long-life e-bus batteries, the viability and practicality of electric buses for public mass transportation increases significantly, which can support widespread adoption in global markets.
CATL is working with a host of automakers to develop batteries for a variety of automotive segment. Early this month, the company confirmed a 'long-life' battery development collaboration with the Chinese car maker Nio.
