PM Modi rejigs Cabinet: New ministers to take charge today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday evening inducted as many as 43 new ministers in the Union Cabinet in a first such revamp since assuming charge in the second term.
The rejig came on the heels of PM Modi completing a seven-year term and witnessed several former ministers tendering resignation from their posts as new ministers were sworn in. Few of the Union ministers who stepped down included Harsh Vardhan, the Union health minister. Prakash Javadekar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Babul Supriyo, Santosh Gangwar, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Sadananda Gowda among others.
Bhupender Yadav will now lead the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change as well as the Minister of Labour and Employment.
Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey will head the Minister of Heavy Industries.
R K Singh was retained as Minister of Power and Minister of New and Renewable Energy and was elevated to Union Cabinet minister rank.
Nitin Jairam Gadkari will lead the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
