Siemens Ltd and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) have announced that they have partnered for the implementation of smart metering technology for 200,000 smart meters in North Delhi.

The EnergyIP Meter Data Management System commissioned by Siemens permits the accurate collection of electricity meter data. The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) program is Tata Power-DDL's initiative aimed at the modernization of the grid.

"The digital technologies have enabled us to monitor critical functions of energy distribution in real-time, resulting in higher operational efficiency and productivity, and have proven invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic," Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO, TPDDL, said.

This implementation is projected to help the consumers in real-time consumption monitoring and better energy usage management while also offering them outage and low power factor alerts. It can facilitate faster outage management.
