Valeo, Atul Auto, and Honda accelerate three-wheeler electrification in India
Global automotive component supplier, Valeo along with electric three-wheeler manufacturer, Atul Greentech Pvt. Ltd (AGPL is a fully-owned subsidiary of Atul Auto) and swappable battery service provider, Honda Powerpack Energy Pvt. Ltd (Honda) have signed an MoU to accelerate three-wheeler electrification in India.
As per the agreement, Valeo will provide its 48V integrated compact electric powertrain system along with the Powertrain Control Unit and Honda will provide its swappable battery to Atul Greentech for its soon-to-be-launched e-3W in the cargo and passenger segment in India.
"This tri-party engagement between Atul Greentech Private Limited, Honda Powerpack Energy Private Limited, and Valeo brings domain expertise together to accelerate three-wheeler electrification in both passenger and cargo segments," said Jayakumar G, Group President, and Managing Director, Valeo India.
"Valeo's advanced CO2-reducing technologies, strong engineering, and local manufacturing expertise will help strengthen our partnership in the fast-growing Indian market and other markets."
Valeo will also be providing technology integration support to help Atul Auto go to market swiftly with Honda's swappable batteries. With this partnership, Atul Auto is looking to enlarge its product offering and better service the needs of the last mile mobility customers.
"AGPL is now collaborating with Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt. Ltd. & Valeo to develop the prototype cargo and passenger vehicle with the most reliable Honda Mobile Power Pack e: Swap & Valeo powertrain system. AGPL would launch the e-vehicle after the successful completion of field trials," Atul Auto said in an official release.
