INOX Air Products signs MoU for 500,000 mtpa liquid ammonia plant in Maharashtra
INOX Air Products has recently signed an MoU with the Government of Maharashtra for setting up a 500,000 mtpa liquid ammonia production facility with a proposed outlay of $3 billion in the Indian state.
The MoU was signed at World Economic Forum, Davos in the presence of the state's Chief Minister Eknath Sambhaji Shinde. The state has entrusted the company with the project under the aegis of the Maharashtra Green Hydrogen Policy 2023.
"We are all geared to play a role in making India a global hub for production, usage and export of green hydrogen under the National Green Hydrogen Mission", commented the INOX Air Products, in its social media handle.

The project is expected to be commissioned within a span of 3-5 years. 'With its sheer size and capacity, the facility is poised to play a critical role in global value chain for the sustainable and versatile green hydrogen", claimed the company.
More details on the nature of technology and the company's target customers (industries and applications) for the supply of liquid ammonia to be produced in India are awaited. As a leading supplier of industrial and medical gases in the country, INOX Air Products is part of critical supply chains for several industries and manufacturing applications in the country.
The company is already producing hydrogen through steam-methane reforming (SMR) for select applications in India. With this new facility, the company is expected to make green hydrogen using renewable energy and expand its reach to supply more industries and customers.
