Zeekr's new EV supports 5.5C ultra-fast charging at 'fastest rate' in the world

Source: Zeekr

The new Zeekr's '007' electric sedan equipped with the company's advanced  lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries support 5.5C ultra-fast charging that allows recharging from 10 to 80 percent SoC in just 10.5 minutes.

Thanks to the optimized materials and upgraded technology, the speed is higher than what's achieved by existing nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries, representing the new achievement by Zeekr's in-house e-powertrain R&D team, according to the automaker.

Zeekr further adds that its enhanced battery management system (BMS) ensures that the vehicle's charging experience remains stable and fast, even in harsh environmental conditions.

At temperatures as low as -10 degree Celsius, the vehicles charge from 10-80 percent SoC within just 30 minutes, assuring users of swift and reliable charging performance.

At present, the Geely-owned global EV brand has opened over 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China with over 2,700 charging piles, all of which can support 800V charging.

Zeekr plans to expand the network to 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations in 2024, and will be operating over 10,000 ultra-fast charging piles in 2026.

The company has also updates its 001 and 007 EVs with enhanced driver assist capabilities that are one of the best in Chinese industry right now.

Zeekr utilizes Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) and includes its own battery technologies, battery management systems, electric motor technologies, and electric vehicle supply chain. The brand has announced plans to sell vehicles in European, Latin American, and other Asian markets, and has an ambitious roll-out plan over the next 5 years to satisfy the rapidly expanding global EV demand.
