Nio records 50 million EV battery swap services in China

Chinese electric automaker Nio has announced that its electric car battery swapping network has achieved 50 millionth battery swap, marking a significant milestone for its flagship service in the Chinese market that is appreciated world-wide. 

According to news reports, the latest milestone means that the company's battery swapping network has provided a whooping 2.62 billion kWh of electricity to its car users so far, equivalent power to keep 1.31 million households active for a year!

Moreover, Nio also claims to have saved more than RMB 20.3 billion ($2.85 billion) of its customer's money through its battery swapping services, as against the use of conventional vehicles, while also saving them more than 2.85 billion minutes of wait time at public EV charging stations.

electric The company notes that about 60 percent of the energy consumed by its vehicles are sourced from its battery swapping network, pointing at the higher level of acceptance among its customers.

In mainland China, Nio is reported to have established 2,464 battery swap stations, of which 825 are located along major highways. On an average, these stations provide 79,000 services per day with a roll-out time of 1.1 seconds between each vehicles getting their batteries swapped.

Nio began establishing its battery swap network in 2018, with 10 million services milestone registered in 2022. The company has already vowed to add 1,000 more stations this year. The company has operationalized two battery swap station assembly plant, with the third plant getting ready in Wuhan, Hubei province.
